Open Into
Before the next round of music-y announcements, I wanted to share my first ever visual art series! It’s called Open Into, and I think it’s pretty neat.
Prints are available here if you’d like to spend more time with them.
Out of nowhere, you say? I agree.
I caught the visual art bug last fall on a trip to NYC, after a visit to the Guggenheim where I saw Rashid Johnson’s work for the first time. Something clicked - nothing as audacious as I’m becoming a “fine artist,” more that there are nooks and crannies in my creative capacity that music just can’t reach. It feels like a fun universe to explore.
Fast forward a few months, and I’ve got a lowkey body of work!
Here’s the blurb from my website:
Open Into focuses on the point where an image begins to give way - when recognition is still possible, but no longer stable. Forms persist, but drift out of alignment through blur and interference, preventing the image from settling into clarity. Each work holds that threshold open, where something is both appearing and disappearing at the same time.
Who needs a publicist?
At any rate, my three planned EPs this year will feature corresponding pieces. I feel about this process the same way I did learning to mix and engineer during the pandemic, like oh wow this is going to change my entire relationship with making art.
Hope you enjoy the work and that everyone’s doing fantastically great.
